We are delighted to share with you the details of the continued partnership between Rumisu & the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (SWT).
The SWT operates at a field level for the protection and preservation of wild animals and habitats in Kenya and particularly for elephants under threat from ivory poaching. Best known for the hand-raising and reintegration of orphaned baby elephants and rhinos, they also operate Anti-Poaching and Mobile Veterinary Units, as well as Aerial Surveillance Teams, to keep wild animals of all kinds safe. In addition, SWT runs Community Outreach Programs to build sustainable relationships with local communities bordering Kenya’s National Parks and protected areas, striving to improve living conditions, educational standards and to reduce human-wildlife conflict.
With the purpose of raising funds in aid to the life-saving & awe inspiring conservation projects of SWT in Kenya and raising awareness for threatened wildlife, we have dedicated four Rumisu prints to this very special partnership.
Our; “Eyes on Rhinos”, “Knuckle Walkers”, “Stand Out & Above” and “High & Mighty” styles, printed on 100%silk, are proudly a part of “Rumisu x SWT” permanent collection, as we want to contribute continuously to their projects.
The “High & Mighty” print in particular owes its inspiration&birth to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, as the print depicts some of the orphaned elephants of the Trust, mentioning some of the orphans by their names, such as; Ndotto, Mbegu, Kamok, Kauro, Mwashoti, Ngilai and more…
Admiring the efforts of SWT deeply, we wanted to contribute in our own humble way through our illustrations and hope to play a part in spreading awareness.
